Existing
bilateral relations between Dhaka-Riyadh to
reach a new height: President

The newly appointed Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to
Bangladesh Dr Abdullah Bin Naser Al Busairi today presented his credential
to President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban here today.
During the meeting the President expressed his happiness at the present
brotherly bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia and said
Dhaka attaches great importance to her relations with Riyadh.
He also said there is ample potential of cooperation between the two
countries which remains to be explored to further strengthen the existing
ties. |

tHe expressed confidence that the existing
bilateral relations between two brotherly
countries will reach a new height during the
Ambassador's tenure in Bangladesh.
The President also expressed his gratitude for employing
and hosting around 1.7 million Bangladeshi workers who
are contributing to the economic development of both
Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
Dr Iajuddin said Bangladesh is ready to provide more
skilled and unskilled manpower to Saudi Arabia to meet
the demand of the labour market
He also express his satisfaction at the present trade
and economic relations between the two counties and
hoped that the relation between the two countries would
be develop further for the mutual benefit of the both.
In this regard, President Iajuddin said Saudi Arabia
could import Pharmaceutical goods and medicine and
explore the possibility of joint venture investment in
boosting Bangladesh's readymade garments sectors that
would also benefit the Saudi investors.
Professor Iajuddin also expressed his thank and
gratitude to the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King
Abdullah and the government of Saudi Arabia for the
magnanimous assistance and generous support to the
people affected in cyclone, Sidr and flood recently and
cyclone in 1991.
He also stated that Saudi Arabia has always stood
besides Bangladesh, particularly when it faced
devastation by natural disasters and calamities.
The Saudi envoy sought the President cooperation to him
in discharging his duties in Bangladesh.
He also expressed strong hope that the relations between
Dhaka and Riyadh would be further cemented in the days
to come.
The new Ambassador who worked as a diplomat at Saudi
Embassy in Dhaka in 1988 also thanked the people of
Bangladesh for their hospitality, courage and patient.
He also and saw huge potential of Bangladesh and was
very much hopeful that the country would achieve its
aspired development soon.
Secretary of the President's Office Md Sirajul Islam,
Military Secretary to the President Major General
Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Foreign Secretary Touhid Hosain and
Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were present.
Earlier, on his arrival at Bangabhaban, a smart
contingent of President's Guard Regiment gave the
Ambassador a guard of honor. |
