President and new Yemen Ambassador

President Prof Dr Iajuddin Ahmed on Monday underlined the need for enhancing bilateral trade and commerce for the mutual benefit of Bangladesh and Yeman.

The President also underscored the need for exchanging of trade delegations between two countries for exploring the opportunities of bilateral trade and stressed on the educational exchange programme particularly in the field of engineering & IT for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

The President made the remarks when the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen to Bangladesh, based in New

Delhi, Mustapha Ahmd M. Noman presented his credentials to him at Bangabhaban.

Welcoming the new Ambassador, the President congratulated him on his new assignment as the Ambassador of Yemen to Bangladesh.

He said Bangladesh attaches great importance to its fraternal relations with Yemen. He expressed satisfaction at the existing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and hoped that mutual cooperation in different areas of common interest would be further strengthened and deepened in the days to come.

President Iajuddin said that Bangladesh and Yemen have historic ties for centuries with shared common values, faith and culture and have excellent relationship with the brotherly people of Yemen.

He said that Yemen was one of the earliest countries to have recognized Bangladesh in November 1973.

Dr Ahmed apprised the envoy that Bangladesh is endowed with huge skilled and non-skilled manpower and the Government of Yemen could recruit Bangladeshi workforces and experts to meet their development requirements.

He also apprised the envoy that the government of Yemen may import our high class pharmaceuticals, ceramics, frozen fish garments and textile, jute and leather products at a very competitive price.

The Envoy said that the relations between Yemen and Bangladesh are excellent and it would be further strengthened in the days to come.

He also praised the role of Bangladeshi troops for upholding world peace under UN Peacekeeping Operation deploying at the various part of the world particularly in Africa. The Ambassador sought cooperation form the President of bangladesh in discharging his duties in Bangladesh.

Earlier, on his arrival at Bangabhaban, the Ambassador was given a guard of honour by the President’s guard regiment. The Ambassador took salute and inspected the parade.

Secretary of the President’s Office Md. Sirajul Islam, Foreign Secretary Md. Touhid Hossain Military secretary to the President Major General Muhammad Ruhul Amin, Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader and concerned officials from both the countries were present on the occasion.
