President, CA place wreaths at the Mazar of Bangabandhu in Tungipara

President Prof. Dr Iajuddin Ahmed and Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed today paid rich tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing wreaths at the mazar of the great leader marking the 33rd martyrdom anniversary of the founder of independent and sovereign Bangladesh.

The president placed wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu at 10.13 am and he was followed by the Chief Adviser at 11.05 am. Earlier, they were flown to Tungipara from Dhaka by separate airforce helicopters this morning.

While placing wreaths smartly turned out contingents of Bangladesh armed forces gave guard of honour as the bugles played the last post and the national flag was lowered to half- mast. They also stood in solemn silence for some time.

They offered separate Munajats seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of the founder of Independent and Sovereign Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Later, they also signed the visitor's book.

Chief of Army Staff General Moeen U Ahmed, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshall SM Ziaur Rahman were present on the occasion.

Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumdar, Press Secretary to Chief  Adviser Syed Fahim Munaim, Press secretary to the President Abdul Awal Howlader, GOC of 55 Infantry Division Maj. Gen. M Rafiqul Islam and high civil and military officials were also present on the occasion.

The chiefs of three services also offered "Fateha" at the Mazar of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman immediately after placing of wreath by the President.
