Professor Iajuddin
observed that Bangladesh and Indian
Armies could share their experiences in
various fields and take part in join
trainings which would help develop and
strengthen existing friendly relations
further in the days to come.
He also apprised the Indian Army Chief of
the Bangladesh's success in checking
militancy in the country and said the
people of the country never support
terrorism.
The President also informed General
Kapoor about the Bangladesh efforts to
strengthen democracy in the country and
its preparation for holding a credible
general election by December this year.
He also underscored the need for working
Bangladesh and India together to face the
challenge of global warming and arsenic
problem as the issues are highly
vulnerable for both the countries.
Indian Army Chief showed his keen
interest to avail different training
facilities in Bangladesh for Indian army
officers and said Bangladesh and Indian
Armies could exchange training and share
experiences in different fields
particularly in international
peacekeeping.
He praised the Bangladesh Army for its
excellence in disaster management and its
role in facing natural calamities.
General Deepak said Bangladesh and India
have been facing similar challenges in
the field of development and survival,
particularly in poverty alleviation,
curbing terrorism and facing natural
calamities.
He said that the two countries could work
together effectively in facing the
problems successfully.
The Indian Chief who took part in 1971
operations, launched for the liberation
of Bangladesh when he was a Captain of
Indian Army, also praised Bangladeshi
people for their courage and patients.
