The President was the first
to place a wreath at the altar of the Mausoleum
at 6 am. The Chief Adviser followed him and also
placed a wreath.
After placing the wreaths, the President and the
Chief Adviser stood in solemn silence for some
time as a mark of respect to the memories of the
martyrs of the Great War of Liberation in 1971.
The bugle played the last post and a smartly
turned out contingent of the Army, the Navy and
the Air Force presented state salute on the
occasion.
The Speaker, chief justice, members of the
council of advisers, special assistants to the
chief adviser, chiefs of three services,
diplomats, high civil and military officials,
freedom fighters and dignitaries were present.
The President and the Chief Adviser exchanged
greetings with the diplomats before departing
the Mausoleum premises.
Later the President signed the visitor's book at
the Mausoleum.
