Iajuddin Ahmed as the head of his household
today filled up a form of agriculture
census-2008 at Bangabhaban in the city.
The census in the country began on May 11 and
would end on May 25.
Finance and Planning Adviser Dr AB Mirza Azizul
Islam and Planning Secretary Zafar Ahmed
Chowdhury were present.
The finance adviser apprised the President of
various aspects of the census.
He said information about everything that
contributes to the agriculture sector,
including livestock, poultry and fisheries,
would be included in the census.
Describing the census as very important for
preparing the agriculture development plan,
he said the last agriculture census
was carried out in 1996-'97.
The President laid emphasis on protecting
agriculture land in the backdrop of its
reduction due to unplanned industrialisation
and urbanisation. In this regard, he
stressed the need for undertaking proper
measures by the government.
