A 12-member delegation of Dhakabasi today called on President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban here.

During the meeting, the members of delegation, led by the President of the organization Shukur Salek, apprised the President about different aspects of their activities and the programes they have undertaken to celebrate 400 hundred years of Dhaka City.

They sought the President's cooperation in implementing their two-year long programme from 2008-10 smoothly and preserving the historical places and installations in the city properly.

 

They said Dhakabashi is going to launch a programme on Lalbagh Fort Museum premises on July 20 to make the city's children and the students known about the historical places and installation through visiting those places  themselves.

The President gave a patient hearing to the delegation and praised the Dhakabasi's efforts to celebrate the 400- ears of the Cosmopolitan Mega City.

He also called upon the leaders of the organisation to include some agenda into their activities that would help  expanding quality higher education in the city and preservation of the environment of the city including protecting the River Buriganga.

Professor Iajuddin said that the Dhakabashi has to take long-term plan by upholding interest of all residents here for its proper development as Dhaka has now become a cosmopolitan city with the passes of time.

Secretary of the President's Office Md Sirajul Islam and Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were present.
