Bewitching show by two Air Force jets, F7 and
Mig- 29, and their victorious exit, combat
helicopter flew past at a low altitude, army
commandos appearance with parachutes carrying
the national flag and standards of the President
and the Chief Adviser made the Independence and
National Day Parade an eye-catching unique event
for the audience.
The army, navy, air force, paramilitary
Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) and Coast Guard, Rapid
Action Battalion (RAB), police, Ansar, National
Cadet Corps and the 1971 Liberation War veterans
took part in the spectacular march past.
Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed,Chief Justice
Mohammad Ruhul Amin, advisors of the caretaker
government, political leaders, foreign
diplomats,senior civil and military officials
and distinguished citizenswitnessed the
Independence and National Day parade.

Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam and Chief of
Bangladesh Air Force Air Marshal Shah Mohammad
Ziaur Rahman welcomed the President as bugles
heralded his arrival at the scene marking the
start of the ceremony.
An 11-member delegation of former Indian army
officials who took part in the Bangladesh's War
of Liberation in 1971 also witnessed the
Independence and National Day parade for the
first time. Lieutenant General (Rtd) J F R
Jackob, former Chief of Staff of Eastern Command
of Indian Army during Bangladesh's War of
Independence led the Indian team.
The parade kicked off with the fly past by Army
Aviation and salute by the flag bearing
helicopter of Army Aviation and Bangladesh Air
Force to the President as parade commander Major
General Mohammad Ashab Uddin ceremonially
obtained the Presidential nod for its start
after the national anthem was played. Colonel GS
M Hamidur Rahman led the Army Aviation fly past.

They were followed by combined mechanized
columns led by Lieutenant Colonel Md Jahangir
Hassan. Military police motor bikers, tanks with
lowered barrels, artillery vehicles including
air defense canons and navy mechanical units
including torpedo columns.
A combined band party of different forces marked
the end of the ceremonial military parade by
marching past the podium.
The Parade Square was tastefully decorated with
colourful balloons, ribbons and flowers while
portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,
Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and other
independence and national leaders and seven Bir
Shresthas were prominently displayed at the
background of the dais on the parade ground.
