Former president HM Ershad, advisers of the
caretaker government, chiefs of three services,
judges of the Supreme Court, secretaries,
veteran freedom fighters, members of the
families of seven Bir Shresthas, diplomats,
editors, leaders of various political parties,
professional bodies and socio-cultural
organisations, high civil and military officials
and the elite also joined the reception.
Visiting former Indian army officers who took
part in Bangladesh's War of Liberation in 1971,
led by Lieutenant General (retd) JFR Jackob,
former Chief of Staff of Eastern Command of
Indian Army during Bangladesh's War of
Independence, also attended the reception.
Prof Iajuddin and Prof Anwara Begum welcomed the
guests and exchanged pleasantries with them.
Renowned artistes and children rendered
patriotic songs at the reception.
