NCC delegates from India, Sri Lanka call on Iajuddin

Visiting officers and cadets of National Cadet Corps (NCC) of India and Sri Lanka today called on President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban here.

A team of Bangladesh NCC was also present.

During the meeting, they briefed the President about the objectives of NCC to uplift the standard of future leaders out of the files of students of various level of educational institutions, develop discipline volunteers for national development programmes and provide second line defence in face of external aggression.

They also apprised the President of different programmes and activities of the NCC of SAARC countries with the motto-knowledge, discipline and unity- including providing training to male and female students of school, college and university levels, participating in social support activities and building intangible mode of character of the cadets to achieve the objectives.

They also apprised the President of cadet exchange programme among the SAARC countries under which the Indian and the Sri Lanka's NCC delegations have been visiting Bangladesh to see for themselves the celebration of Independence Day of the country.

Professor Ijuddin welcomes the members of the NCC teams of India and Sri Lanka to Bangladesh.

He underscored the need for strengthening the exchange programme through organizing frequent visits of the members of NCC of the SAARC countries to increase interaction among the youths of the region.

He also expressed his satisfaction at the different social support activities of the NCC including participation in disaster management, relief operation and different environmental support programmes.

Director General of NCC of Sri Lanka Major General GBW Jayasundam, and Additional Director General of NCC of India Major General VK Dhall led the delegations of their respective countries.

Director General of BNCC Brigadier General Kazi Anwar-Ul-Islam led the Bangladesh team.

Military Secretary to the President Major General Mohd Aminul Karim, Secretary Md Sirajul Islam and Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were also present during the meeting.
