and understanding that exist between the two
countries into meaningful bilateral
cooperation.
He mentioned that there is a tremendous
scope for increasing trade flows between the
two countries and said
Bangladesh
desires enhanced trade and economic
cooperation with
Spain, the fifth largest economy in
the European Union.
I this regard, he underscored the need for
high-level bilateral visits and holding
trade fairs for promotion of trade and
business between the two countries.
Professor Iajuddin laid emphasis on cultural
and educational exchange programmes between
the two countries and establishing Spanish
language institute in
Dhaka where
students and scholars might learn Spanish,
one of the rich language of the world.
The President also briefed the ambassador
about the holding of next general elections
by December this year.
He also apprised the Spanish Ambassador of
Bangladesh’s
policy to promote and maintain friendly
relations with all countries and its role in
international peacekeeping by contributing
second largest troop to the UN peacekeeping
mission.
The Ambassador praised
Bangladesh’s
rich culture heritage and existing religious
harmony in the country.
He applauded
Bangladesh’s role in different
international issues and its effort to
strengthen democracy in the country.
Arturo Manuel Perez expressed his
satiusfaction over the gradually expanding
bilateral cooperation between
Bangladesh
and Spain
and hope that the relation would be
strengthened further in the days to come.
He also assured the President of extending
his all out cooperation and efforts towards
strengthening bilateral relation and
expanding cultural and educational
cooperation between
Dhaka and
Madrid.

Earlier, on his arrival at Bangabhaban, a
smart contingent of President's Guard
Regiment gave the Spanish Ambassador a
guard of honor.
